The Hooded Crow found in Israel stands proudly on an olive branch holding a yellow ribbon that depicts the last hostage left in Gaza. Two hundred and fifty ribbons are in the garbage; they symbolize the released hostages. Dead pigeons on the ground portray the scavengers—the terrorists who on 10/7/23 killed 1,200 innocent people and took 251 hostages. The pigeons are not the trained, friendly homing birds I knew as a child. I saw them at café tables in Tel Aviv making a mess of leftover food. These pigeons depict evil with no regard for their surroundings. Home is not home until all people can live together in peace.
