Ink and crayon on Tyvek

65" x 29"

Inspired by the prints of German artist Kathe Kollwitz (1867-1945), my "Dialogue with Kollwitz" series of large-scale ink on Tyvek drawings depicts our collective struggles against poverty, oppression, and war and the potential for change through art and action. In “Nothing To Lose but Chains” (2025), figures from Kollwitz's print “Prisoners” (1908) on the left are held in check, while on the right side contemporary striking workers have broken free of flimsy chains made only of construction mesh. They come forward with confidence to demand ICE OUT, No To World War 3 and other fundamental democratic rights. As Kollwitz intended, “If my works continue to make such an impression, even after decades, then I will have achieved a great deal.”
